When Shanghai Tower, second highest building on earth, was completed it immediately became more than a landmark. On it's top floor, more than 600 meters above the ground, the world's highest culture, music, arts and science space "Summit 632" opened to the public in August 2017
Lukas Taido was given the honor to be the first person, and up until today one of only three composers (including Grammy Award winning composer Simon Franglen "Avatar" and "Titanic") to create music and special audio content for this worldwide unique situation. 252 Iosono wave-synthesis driven, seperate loudspeaker channels, plus 8 subwoofers create true 3-dimensional audio high above Shanghai.
In the middle of this truly unique venue ist the "Eye of Shanghai", a sculpture resting on the 1000 tons weighing, eddy current pendulum tuned mass damper that reduces the swaying motion of the building.
In Lukas Taido's Composition "The Red Dragons Eye" , exclusively created for the Shanghai Tower, he creates different musical situations and experiences simultaneaously taking place at different parts of the venue, while all still belong to one large composition. A truly three dimensional creation process and experience on site for the listeners, with music being shifted away from a strictly chronlogical array to a rather space-determinded order and sequences. The visitors decide by walking around the space, or dwelling at a certain point, what parts of the music they hear at what point - a truly immersive and intense experience
